The Cardiology department provides diagnosis and treatment for heart conditions in pets. Our doctors have the ability to manage or treat conditions such as congestive heart failure, hypertension, dilated and hypertrophic cardiomyopathy, and valvular disorders.
Pets with heart disease may have symptoms that can sometimes seem unrelated to heart conditions or go undiscovered during a routine examination.
These symptoms include:
To obtain a diagnosis of the pet’s condition, we examine their full medical history, and perform diagnostic testing such as blood work evaluation, chest x-rays, and echocardiogram. These tools help us confirm the presence of an underlying heart problem and assess the severity of the condition. Depending on the pet's condition, we have various treatment options available such as prescription medications, cardiac catheterization, angioplasty, pacemaker implantation, and cardiac surgery.
Our Cardiology department is staffed by board-certified specialist, Dr. Nick Schroeder, along with a team of experienced technicians with specific training in Cardiology.
